Run a Raffle Superpower

A raffle superpower turns a post into a giveaway. Everyone who meets your condition gets entered, Dynamo picks the winners when the raffle closes, and it sends each person the right message — a prize DM for winners, a consolation DM for everyone else, and a public comment announcing that it is over.

The Raffle template adds a Raffle Settings column the other superpowers do not have. This tutorial walks that column top to bottom, then shows where the winners appear once it has run.

Before you start

  • A connected channel and the post you want to run the giveaway on.
  • The prize sorted out, and a link or code to send winners if that is how they claim it.
  • A start and end date in mind — a raffle cannot run longer than six days.
  1. 1

    Start from the Raffle template

Open Superpowers, click New Superpower, and choose the Raffle template from the grid. (Rapid Raffle sits next to it for a shorter variant.)

The editor opens with three columns instead of two: Superpower settings on the left, Raffle Settings in the middle, and Condition Groups on the right. Give it a name, and add a Scheduler hashtag if you use them.

Tip: The left column has no "Choose end date" here — a raffle gets its own start and end dates in the middle column instead.

Set the winner count and the dates

How many winners? is the size of the prize pool — Dynamo draws up to this many from everyone entered. It is a ceiling rather than a target: if you set 10 winners and only 3 people enter, those 3 win and the raffle closes with 3 winners.

Under Raffle dates, pick a Start date first; the end field stays locked until you do, reading "Pick a start date first". Then set the end. The limit is stated under the fields: the end must be within six days of the start.

Tip: Set the winner count to match the prizes you actually have. Everyone drawn gets a winning DM, so the number you set is the most prizes you could end up owing.

    Decide who gets entered

The Condition Groups column works the same as any superpower, with one addition: each group has an Include in raffle toggle. Turn it on and everyone matching that group is entered into the draw.

The template starts you with a "Raffle group" set to Left a comment — the simplest entry rule, where commenting enters you. Edit the group to require a keyword, a tagged friend, or a user property instead, exactly as you would elsewhere.

Tip: Include in raffle is what separates an entry group from an ordinary reply group. A group with it switched off still sends its replies but never enters anyone.

    Write the winners’ DM

Winners private reply is sent automatically to every winner when the raffle ends. This is where the prize actually gets delivered, so it is the most important message in the whole superpower.

Use the @[user_name] placeholder to address each winner by name — for example "@[user_name] you won! 🎁 grab your prize here 👇". The pencil edits the text and the sparkle icon drafts it with AI.

Tip: Use Test Message before you save. This DM carries the prize, and a broken link reaches every winner at once with nothing you can do about it.

    Write the non-winners’ DM

Losers private reply is sent automatically to everyone who did not win — which, in most raffles, is nearly everyone who entered.

Keep it short and warm, and point at what is next: "@[user_name] the raffle ended try again next time… 🏁". It uses the same placeholder and has its own Test Message button.

Tip: Worth writing properly rather than leaving as a default. It is the message the largest number of people will actually receive.

    Announce the result publicly

Two sections handle the public side. Raffle finished — auto comment is published automatically when the raffle ends — the sample text explains what happened without naming anyone: "The raffle has ended 🏁, all the winners got a personal winning message via DM 🎁🏆".

Raffle ended — public replies are posted as public replies once the raffle is over, and they can address the commenter with @[mention_user]. Use Add ended public reply to write more than one.

Tip: Announcing that winners were DMed, rather than listing them publicly, tells everyone the raffle really concluded without publishing anyone’s name.

Create it and run it on a post

Click Create to save the raffle to your Superpowers library, then attach it to the post you want it to run on from that channel’s feed.

While it is live the feed row behaves like any other superpower. Once the end date passes, the row picks up an Expired badge and the superpower name shows the date it closed.

See who won and export the list

A raffle adds one button the other superpowers do not have: View results. Click it to open the draw.

The dialog shows the raffle status and when it ended, then the winners in the order they were drawn. Export CSV downloads the list so you can reconcile it against prizes actually sent.

Tip: Export the CSV before you start fulfilling. It is your record of who Dynamo picked and messaged.

View results, at the left of the finished raffle’s action bar.
Raffle results: status, end time, winners, and Export CSV.

Your raffle is set to run itself!

Once it closes, Dynamo picks the winners, sends every DM, and posts the closing comment without you touching it. Open View results on the post to see who won and export the list.
