Create Messenger Triggers

Messenger triggers let you auto-reply when a subscriber sends a specific word. When someone messages your Facebook page with a trigger word or phrase, Dynamo automatically sends the message or runs the action you configured.

This tutorial covers finding the triggers page, creating a new trigger, choosing an action type, and saving it live.

Before you start

  • A connected Facebook channel (see the "Connect a Channel" tutorial).
  • Access to the FB Messenger tools in the Dynamo sidebar.

    Open Messenger triggers

    From the left sidebar, under FB Messenger, click Messenger triggers. The page explains that triggers auto-reply when a subscriber sends a specific word.

    Use the channel selector at the top to pick the Facebook page you want to configure (for example "Prod.test.tom10").

    Review the triggers list and Master Trigger

    The list shows your existing triggers. The Master Trigger is a global switch — when its toggle is off, none of your triggers fire, which is handy for pausing everything at once.

    Each trigger row shows its action (for example "Private message · Fires on any message") and an Edit button to adjust it. Use the search box to quickly find a trigger by name.

    Tip: If your triggers suddenly stop responding, check that the Master Trigger toggle is switched on.

    Start a new trigger

    Click New trigger to open the trigger dialog. The subtitle confirms it will "Send an automated message when a subscriber sends your trigger word."

    Name it and set the trigger word

    Enter a Trigger name so you can recognize it later in the list. Then set the Trigger word — the exact word or phrase a subscriber must send to fire the auto-reply.

    The trigger word supports up to 50 characters, tracked by the 0/50 counter.

    Choose an action type

    Open the Action type dropdown to pick what happens when the trigger fires. Options include Private message, Stop notifications, Resume notifications, and Direct opt-in.

    Choose Private message to send an automated reply, or one of the notification actions to manage a subscriber’s subscription state.

    Build the message and create

    With Private message selected, click Create message to compose the reply, or Load from library to reuse a saved message.

    When everything looks right in the preview, click Create to save the trigger. It appears in your triggers list and starts firing on matching messages right away.

Your trigger is live!

Dynamo will now watch incoming messages and automatically respond whenever a subscriber sends your trigger word. Create as many triggers as you need, and use the Master Trigger toggle to pause all of them at once.
