Build an Ad Flow for Click-to-Messenger Ads

Ad Flows pair a welcome flow with a drip campaign to maximize conversions from Click-to-Messenger (CTM) ads. When someone taps your Meta ad and opens Messenger, Dynamo greets them with your welcome messages, then follows up automatically with a scheduled drip sequence.

You can generate the entire DM sequence from your ad image and caption, fine-tune each message in a live preview, schedule the drip, and then connect the flow to your ad inside Meta Ads Manager. This tutorial walks through the whole process end to end.

Watch the full walkthrough, or follow the step-by-step guide below.

Before you start

  • A connected Facebook Page and a Meta Ads account (see the "Connect a Channel" tutorial).
  • Access to Ad Flows under Marketing Tools in the left sidebar.
  • An existing campaign to power the drip, or the ability to create one in Meta Ads Manager.
  1. 1

    Open the Ad Flows page

From the left sidebar, under Marketing Tools, click Ad Flows. The header explains the feature: Ad Flows pair a welcome flow with a drip campaign to maximize conversions from Click-to-Messenger ads.

Existing flows are listed as rows. Each row shows a CTM ad card, the welcome and drip message cards, and Edit, Duplicate, and Insights actions. Use Search to find a flow, or click New ad flow to build one.

    Start a new ad flow

Click New ad flow to open the builder. The left side holds Ad flow settings; the right side is the preview, which starts on a "Ready to generate" empty state.

From here you can either Generate ad flow (let Dynamo build the DM sequence from your ad content) or Create your own (build messages manually).

Note that both options — Generate ad flow and Create your own — only become available after you fill in the Ad flow settings section on the left.

Tip: Generating from your ad content is the fastest way to start — you can still edit every message afterward.

  3. 3

Fill in the ad flow settings

Give the flow a Welcome flow title — a clear name that matches your ad, which you will use to pick the right Messages Flow in Facebook. Add a Drip campaign title for the automated follow-up messages.

Set the Number of messages to generate (between 2 and 10) and a Conversion link URL that your messages will point to.

  4. 4

Select the campaign for your drip

Under Select campaign for your drip campaign, choose the Facebook Page, the Ads Account, and the Campaign that will power the drip. Use the duplicate icon next to Campaign to reuse an existing one.

Optionally enable Auto retry so Dynamo re-attempts delivery if a message fails.

    Schedule the drip campaign

In Schedule drip campaign, set the Frequency (for example Daily / Weekly), pick the Days of Week, and choose the Time, Timezone, and Start Date.

Under Drip campaign Settings, decide what happens when the drip ends: Loop to restart from the first message, or Stop to end after the last message.

Add your ad content to generate the sequence

When you Generate, the Ad content modal appears. Add your Ad image and Ad caption — you can import your ad creative from Meta or add your own.

Paste the caption text, confirm the image, then click Generate to have Dynamo turn your creative into a full DM sequence.

Review and edit the generated messages

The Ad flow preview shows the generated cards in order — for example Welcome message 1, Welcome message 2, Reminder, Urgency push, and Final attempt — each with its image, copy, and call-to-action button.

Hover a card to Edit, Duplicate, or Delete it, use the + to add a message, or click Reset to start over. Scroll horizontally to see the full sequence.

    Save your ad flow

When the sequence looks right, click Save ad flow. Dynamo confirms with "Your AdFlow has been saved!" and explains the next step: go to Facebook Ads Manager and create your Click-to-Messenger ad.

From this dialog you can Watch Tutorial for step-by-step help, or Finalize with Ad Connection to continue.

Connect the flow in Meta Ads Manager

In Meta Ads Manager, edit your Engagement ad and find the Message template section. Choose Create new, then select Partner app and click Select flow.

In the Partner app dialog, pick Dynamo as the Partner app and choose your Message flow — this is the Welcome flow title you set earlier. Preview it in Messenger, then click Finish to link the ad to your Dynamo ad flow.

Tip: The Message flow name in Meta matches your Welcome flow title in Dynamo, so name it clearly to find it fast.

Choose your CTM ad in Dynamo to connect everything

Once your ad is connected in Meta, return to Dynamo and choose your CTM (Click-to-Messenger) ad — this is the first card in the flow. Selecting it links your Meta ad to the welcome flow and drip campaign you built.

The CTM ad card shows the ad creative, its status (for example Paused), and a summary of the Channel, Ad account, Campaign, Target audience, and any Excluded audience — so you can confirm everything is wired to the right ad.

Tip: This is the step that ties it all together: no CTM ad selected means the flow has nothing to trigger it.

Your ad flow is ready to convert!

Your welcome flow and drip campaign are saved and linked. Finish by selecting the flow in Meta Ads Manager, then come back to the Ad Flows page any time to edit messages, duplicate a winner, or check insights.
