Use the Troll Buster Superpower

Troll Buster is an always-on Channel Superpower that alerts about, hides, or deletes comments made by social users who behave like trolls. It watches for repetitive replies, links in comments, banned keywords, and offensive language, then takes the action you choose.

Because it is a channel-level superpower, it applies to a whole Facebook page or Instagram account rather than a single post. This tutorial covers activating it, configuring each detection rule, choosing actions, and reviewing flagged comments and user types.

Watch the full walkthrough, or follow the step-by-step guide below.

Before you start

  • A connected Facebook page or Instagram account (see the "Connect a Channel" tutorial).
  • Access to Channel Superpower under the Social community section of the sidebar.
  1. 1

    Open Channel Superpower

From the left sidebar, under Social community, click Channel Superpower. This page manages the always-on superpowers for a connected channel.

Use the Channel selector to pick the Facebook page or Instagram account you want to protect (for example "Dev.testing.tom30").

Social community → Channel Superpower in the sidebar.

  2. 2

    Activate Troll Buster

Find the Troll Buster card in the superpowers list. When it is off, the label reads "Inactive" — flip the toggle to turn it on.

Once active, the card shows a green "Active" badge and live stats: Potential trolls, Trolls, Friendly users, and Handled comments. Click Edit to configure how it behaves.

Tip: Troll Buster works at the page/account level, not per post — activate it once per channel.

Toggle Troll Buster from Inactive to active.
Active: the green badge, stats, and Edit button.
  3. 3

    Understand how flagging works

Click Edit to open the Troll Buster settings. The About section on the left explains the superpower: it alerts about or hides/deletes comments from users who act like potential trolls.

Under "Potential Trolls - Settings", Dynamo automatically flags any user or page that triggers at least one of your enabled rules, and sends an email with a short report.

  4. 4

    Enable social assistant moderation

Turn on Social assistant moderation to weed out negative and offensive comments typically made by trolls, keeping your posts clean and positive.

For each rule you enable, use Choose the action to decide what happens: Alert only, Hide comments, or Delete comments.

    Catch repetitive in-post replies

Enable Repetitive in-post replies to stop users who reply to comments too often. When it happens too much, Dynamo stops it and can remove previous comments from the same account.

Set the Replies threshold that triggers the action — for best results it is recommended to set it between 2 and 4 — then choose Alert only, Hide comments, or Delete comments.

Set the replies threshold (recommended 2–4).
  6. 7

    Block banned keywords

Enable Banned keywords to act on comments and replies that contain negative words. Add keywords one at a time by typing and pressing Enter (for example "scam", "free", "lairs"), or bulk import with Upload CSV.

Then choose the action to take when a banned keyword appears: Alert only, Hide comments, or Delete comments.

Add keyword chips or upload a CSV of banned words.
  7. 8

    Manage user types

Switch to the User types tab on the right to manage users aggregately and move them between types: Potential Trolls, Trolls, and Friendly Users.

Each group has a search box so you can quickly find a user. When there are none yet, an empty state message is shown.

    Review flagged comments and save

Switch to the Comments tab to see Flagged Comments (Need Attention) that Troll Buster has caught. When there are none, you will see an empty state.

When your rules are ready, click Save to this channel only to apply them here, or Save to all channels to apply the same configuration everywhere. Click Done to close the modal.

The Comments tab lists flagged comments needing attention.
Save to this channel or to all channels.

Your page is protected!

Troll Buster now runs in the background, flagging and handling troll comments based on your rules. Revisit the Channel Superpower page any time to review the stats, check flagged comments, and fine-tune your actions.
